Effects of different internal retraction strategies on the morphological changes of the alveolar bone in the orthodontic treatment of maxillary incisors in adolescents
Objective:To analyze the effects of different internal retraction strategies on the morphological changes of the alveolar bone in the orthodontic treatment of maxillary incisors in adolescents. Methods:One hundred patients(100 teeth)with maxillary incisors in adolescent orthodontics were divided into a tilted retraction group and a root-controlled retraction group with 50 cases(50 teeth)each according to a retraction method. The retraction of maxillary incisors and the changes of alveolar bone and bone density in the two groups were statistically analyzed. Results:The change values of IE-MP and LAI-PP and the changes of L2,L3,P3,and T3 were greater and the change value of RA-MP and the changes of L1,P1,P2,T1,and T2 were smaller in the tilted internal group than the root-controlled internal group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The palatal alveolar ridge area and the labial apical area under the tilted inward approach and the palatal root area under the root-controlled inward approach are high-risk areas for alveolar bone resorption of orthodontically inwardly retracted upper incisors in adolescents.
