Clinical study of pestle needle combined with cervical traction and neck and shoulder exercise in the treatment of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy
Objective:To observe the clinical effect of pestle needle combined with cervical traction and neck and shoulder exercise in the treatment of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy.Methods:Eighty-four cases of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy were collected in Outpatient Department of Acupuncture and Massage Huajing Community Health Service Center of Xuhui District,Shanghai from Jan.2020 to Dec.2023,and randomly divided into two groups with 42 cases each according to the numbers. The patients in the observation group were treated with pestle needle combined with cervical traction and neck and shoulder exercises, while those in the control group were treated with cervical traction and neck and shoulder exercises. Both groups were treated for two courses.Visual analogue scale(VAS),Northwood Park(NPQ)scores were used to evaluate the degree of neck and shoulder pain and neck function, and evaluate nerve conduction velocity through electromyography and the effects in both groups were compared. Results:The VAS,NPQ and nerve conduction velocity were improved obviously between the two groups before and after treatment(P<0.05),and the improvement in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The total effective rate was 92.88%(39/42,P<0.05)in the observation group, which was higher than that 76.19%(32/42,P<0.05)in the control group. Conclusion:The pestle needle combined with cervical traction and neck and shoulder exercise has a definite effect in the treatment of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy, and can better alleviate pain, and accelerate the recovery of neck function and nerve function.
