As an indispensable ornamental flower,Hemerocallis L.is widely used in home gardening and landscaping due to its rich germplasm resources,wide distribution and strong adaptability.This article reviewed the breeding status of Hemerocallis at home and abroad,with a focus on the three main research techniques and methods of Hemerocallis breeding,including hybrid breeding,ploidy breeding and molecular breeding.Then,the development of Hemerocallis plant breeding was prospected.The main breeding goals of Hemerocallis in the future focus on six aspects:disease resistance,insect resistance,flowering period,flower type,flower color and flower fragrance.
