Report of a new genus and two new species of Bufonidae toad(Anura:Bufonidae)from Yunnan,China
There are two new undescribed species of small-sized toads with stream-breeding habits which distributed in Dayao Dabaica-oling mountain and Yongde Daxueshan mountain in Yunnan province of China.Both of these two species of toads have similar morphol-ogy and habits to the Ailao mountain toad Parabufo Bufo ailaonica:(1)smaller body size;(2)absence of tympanic membrane;(3)absence of suckers at the mouth of tadpoles;(4)spawning in mountain streams.Accordingly,we establish a new genus Parabufo gen.nov.for them.Besides,the two new species of toads were named as Parabufo baicaolingensis sp.nov.and Parabufo xueshanensis sp.nov.respectively.Concurrently,the Parabufo Bufo ailaonica was moved into this new genus Parabufo gen.nov..These three species have obvious morphological differences from each other:(1)body size:45.0~50.2 mm for P.baicaolingensis males,53.1~62.0 mm for P.xueshanensis males,41.1 mm for P.ailaonica males,and 66.0~70.5 mm for P.baicaolingensis females,lack for P.xues-hanensis females,52.0~55.0 mm for P.ailaonica females.(2)Skin:The skin of the P.baicaolingensis is rough and densely popu-lated with warts and moles of different sizes(especially in females),the back of P.xueshanensis is smooth and has few warts,and the back of P.ailaonica is smooth but with obvious warts of consistent size.
