Effect of Essential Oil of Mosla chinensis Maxim.on Intestinal Inflammation and Microbial Barrier in Mice
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects on intestinal inflammation and microbial bar-rier of essential oil of Mosla chinensis Maxim..Ninety mice were divided into 6 groups, with 15 mice in each group.During the next seven days, the blank group(group B)and model group(group MC)were orally administered normal saline, the positive control group(group P)was orally administered berberine hydro-chloride,and the group of essential oil of Mosla chinensis Maxim.was orally administered essential oil of Mosla chinensis Maxim.at different concentrations[0.062 5(LD),0.250 0(MD),0.500 0(HD)mL/kg].On the final day, after a 16-hour fast, all mice except those in the blank group were intraperitoneally injected with LPS at a concentration of 6 mg/kg.At the same time, five mice from each group were placed in metabolic cages for two hours to evaluate diarrhea using filter paper.Subsequently, the study analysed the expression of inflammatory genes in each group of tissues using quantitative real-time PCR(qPCR).In addition, this study also analysed and assessed the effect of essential oil of Mosla chinensis Maxim.on the gut microbiota. These findings suggested that essential oil of Mosla chinensis Maxim.not only reduces the severity of diarrhea and intestinal inflammation, but also improves the composition of the gut microbiota. Therefore essential oil of Mosla chi-nensis Maxim.has the ability to reduce inflamma-tion and improve the intestinal microbial barrier to some extent.
