Seismic testing of precast multi-segmental hollow bridge pier columns with bottom infilled concrete
To improve the seismic performance and construction convenience of prestressed precast segmental column,a bottom core-filled multi-segmental precast hollow column was developed and its seismic performance was investigated.Firstly, the core height design method of the new precast segmental column was proposed. Then,a scaled model of precast segmental column with core filling at bottom segments was designed and a quasi-static test of the column was conducted.Based on the experimental results, concrete crack development, failure mode, hysteresis performance, ductility, energy dissipation, and the openings of the joint of the new precast column were analyzed. The results show that the failure mode of the developed bottom core-filled multi-segmental precast segmental column was concrete crushing in the bottom segment, but the range was small. It indicated that the proposed design method of the new precast column is feasible, and the expected failure mode can be realized. The new column has good self-resetting capacity, energy consumption capacity and ductility performance,it indicated that the column has excellent seismic performance.
