Objective To analyze the characteristics of open comminuted fracture of extremities and the ef-fect of surgical treatment. Methods A total of 75 patients with open comminced fracture of limbs admitted to Ji-angyin Fourth People's Hospital from November 2021 to November 2023 were selected conveniently as the study objects, and were divided into group A(30 cases),group B(25 cases)and group C(20 cases)according to different treatment methods.Group A received interlocking intramedullary nailing, group B received internal plate fixation, and group C received external stent fixation. The excellent and good rate of joint movement, rate of fracture healing, total incidence of complications, and limb function score of the three groups were compared. Results The excellent and good rate of joint motion and fracture healing rate of group A were higher than those of group B and group C,and the total incidence of complications was lower than those of group B and group C,the differences were statistical significance(all P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in frac-ture healing rate and total incidence of complication between group B and group C(both P>0.05).Before sur-gery,there was no statistically significant difference in limb function scores among 3 groups(P>0.05).After op-eration,the limb function score of group A was higher than that of group B and group C,and the differences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).Conclusion Interlocking intramedullary nailing is superior to other surgi-cal methods in terms of joint motion and fracture healing quality, and can significantly improve the function of limbs, which matches the treatment needs of open comminced fractures in limbs.
