Objective To investigate the clinical effect and complication of vertebroplasty in the treatment of senile osteoporotic vertebral fracture. Methods A total of 120 elderly patients with osteoporotic vertebral frac-ture admitted to Zoucheng People's Hospital from April 2020 to April 2023 were selected as the study objects. They were divided into control group(n=60,internal fixation surgery)and study group(n=60,verteboplasty)by simple drawing method, and the therapeutic effect, spinal function score and complications were compared be-tween the two groups. Results The total clinical effective rate of the study group was 98.33%,higher than(86.67%)of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=4.324,P<0.05).Before surgery, there was no significant difference in spinal imaging findings between the two groups(P>0.05).The vertebral ca-nal encroachment rate, vertebral compression rate and Cobb angle of the study group were better than those of the control group after surgery, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Before operation, there was no significant difference in spinal function scores between the two groups(P>0.05).After surgery, the Oswes-try Disability Index and Visual Analogue Scale scores of the study group were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).The incidence of complications in the study group was 1.67%,lower than 13.33%in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=4.324,P<0.05).Conclusion Vertebroplasty in the treatment of senile osteoporotic vertebral fracture has obvious clinical effect, which can improve the spinal function of patients and reduce the occurrence of complications.
