Objective To analyze the effect of treating chronic bronchitis with emphysema on the basis of Western medicine combined with Houpu Mahuang Decoction.Methods A total of one hundred and thirty-seven patients with chronic bronchitis combined with emphysema who were admitted to Zhangjiagang Guanghe Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western medicine from May 2022 to November 2023 were se-lected as the study objects and the patients were divided into two groups according to the different treatment method.The control group(68 cases)was treated with conventional Western medicine,and the observation group(69 cases)was treated with Houpu Mahuang Decoction On the basis of the control group.The therapeutic effect,Tradition Chinese Medicine score and lung function index(forced expiratory volume in the first second,forced vital capacity,peak expiratory flow rate)were compared between the two groups.Results The total effec-tive rate of the observation group was 98.55%(68/69),which was higher than 86.76%(59/68)of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=7.031,P＜0.05).After 3 months of continuous treat-ment,the patient's symptoms and lung function indicators improved significantly.The Traditional Chinese Medicine scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group,and the lung function in-dexes were better than those of the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(all P＜0.05).Conclusion Clinical treatment of chronic bronchitis combined with emphysema,conventional Western medi-cine and Houpu Huangma Decoction can be used in combination.The effect is obvious,which can effectively promote the symptoms relief and improve lung function.
