Objective To analyze the value of fiberoptic bronchoscopy-assisted treatment for severe ventilator-associated pneumonia(VAP).Methods Seventy-eight patients with VAP admitted to Juye County People's Hospital from April 2022 to March 2023 were selected for the study,and they were divided into a con-trol group and a study group of 39 cases each according to different treatment methods.The control group was treated with traditional therapy,and the study group was supplemented with fiberoptic bronchoscopy on the ba-sis of the control group.The inflammatory factors(interleukin-8,procalcitonin,C-reactive protein),respiratory mechanics indexes(respiratory work,airway resistance,airway peak pressure),recovery time(inflammation con-trol time,mechanical ventilation time,ICU treatment time,discharge time)and clinical efficacy were compared between the two groups.Results After treatment,the levels of inflammatory factor decreased in both groups,and the study group were lower than the control group,the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Af-ter treatment,the respiratory mechanics indexes of the two groups decreased and the study group were lower than the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).The recovery time and hos-pitalization time of patients in the study group were shorter than those of the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).The total effective rate of the study group was 97.44%(38/39),higher than 84.62%(33/39)in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=3.924,P=0.048).Conclusion Fiberoptic bronchoscopy is effective in shortening the recovery time of VAP,reducing the level of inflammatory factors,and improving the state of respiratory mechanics.
