Geological conditions and prospecting direction of uranium deposit in Penggushan-Pingdingshan area, western Xiangshan
Penggushan-Pingdingshan sector, situated at the intersection of Heyuanbei-Fenggang E-W-trending fault and Zou-Shi fault,is part of the southwestern extension of Zone 4 of Zoujiashan metallogenic belt.Recently, great potential has been discovered in the depth of the deposit, and a comprehensive review of the metallogenic geological conditions hence need to be conducted. This paper analyzed and examined the exploration data and revealed the steep volcanic interfaces at depth in the area. The main fault F6 and Pingdingshan fault, both within Zou-Shi fault belt, extend deeply, which traverse the lithologic interfaces and develop extensive secondary fault and fractures.Hydrothermal alteration is predominantly observed in Zou-Shi fault and the vicinity of Pingdingshan fault, with alteration intensity increasing from shallow to deep, affecting a longer duration.Abound surface geophysical and geochemical anomalies indicated favorable conditions for uranium mineralization.High-grade mineralization is often associated with secondary fractures beside the fault zones and deep volcanic rock interfaces,as well as the overlap of multiple alteration stages.Based on the fault and volcanic interface exploration model, prospective areas were predicted which include the upper wall of secondary fracture zone of Zou-Shi fault, the deep portion of the fault F6,volcanic group interfaces, and the footwall of Pingdingshan fault, beside the deep volcanic rock interface.
