Geological characteristics and prospecting potential of uranium mineralization in Penggushan section of western Xiangshan ore field
Penggushan is located in the west of Xiangshan ore field. In recent years, good prospecting clues have been discovered in this area.In order to clarify the next step of prospecting in the area, detailed field geological survey and rock core catalog was carry out.At the same time, representative samples were collected, electron probe and analysis of major and trace elements,et al.were conducted. The research results show that uranium mineralization in this area is strictly controlled by the Zou-Shi fault structure in northeast direction. The ore body is located in the secondary fractures on the side of Zou-Shi fault, which strikes NE-to-NNE and dip NW with the angle of 50°~70°.The hydrothermal erosion in the area can be divided into three phases of early, middle and late mineralization, and the hematitization, chlorite and purple luorite are the most direct signs for ore prospecting.Ore minerals are mainly uranite, pitchblende, gangue minerals are mainly hematite, pyrite, arsenopyrite, fluorite, calcite and so on;the U content of ore and hosting rock samples is positively correlated with the content of Fe2O3,P2O5,and negatively correlated with the content of FeO,K2O and Na2O;the REE pattern of host rock and ore are similar, and both show ing obvious right-leaning type with LREE enrichment and HREE loss, large degree fractionation of LREE to HREE,strong negative Eu anomaly and weak Ce anomaly. In conclusion, the uranium orebody in Penggushan section is mainly controlled by the NE-trending Zou-Shi fault, stored in the the secondary fractures with obvious mineralization alteration in the both sides of hosting rocks. The next exploration should focused on the the both sides of Zou-Shi fault and the footwall of Pingdingshan faut.
