This paper examines the acquisition of multi-adverbial word orders by Chi-nese second language learners whose mother tongue is Indonesian,Thai or Korean through a paper-and-pencil test. The results show that the multiple adverbial sequences of second language learners are strongly influenced by the Principle of Iconicity, showing a high degree of consistency with the"Track Layer Structure";that is,the surface order of multiple adverbials is basically consistent with their respective semantic distance to the core verb.Meanwhile, the above influence of Iconicity is not regulated by the mother tongue background, language proficiency level or the distribution of adverbial positions, but regulated by the combination type of adverbials, which reflects the competition among different motivations. With the change of language proficiency level, the internal moving track of adverbials shows some characteristics:when combined with other adverbials,Time and Location tend to be placed before the core verb;when used in conjunction with adverbs of Location,Instrument and Manner, the adverbials with a small number of sylla-bles are likely to move leftward, which reflects language universals of the Identifiability Hierarchy and Dependency Distance Minimization.
