Joint production of the list construction in Mandarin conversation and the restrictive role of formal features
The sequential structure of list in conversation is represented in three parts:onset,body,and coda,where the list body has an internal structure consisting of list markers and list items.These components form a double-layered interactional con-struction together.The list construction can be jointly produced by different participants and emerge dynamically in conversation.There are different types of joint production of the construction in conversation,which are mainly overlapping,embedding,and exten-ding.The formation of these types is related to both interactional functions and cognitive psychology.The parallelism feature of the list items plays an important restrictive role in this process.
