The construction and application of Chinese Academic Vocabulary
This study constructed a balanced academic Chinese corpus,developed a method based on"word form+word meaning",and extracted 1721 words through setting high-frequency and high coverage thresholds,with reference to the 7th edition of Modern Chinese Dictionary.After separating general words,we ended up with our Chinese Aca-demic Vocabulary,which consists of 698 academic words and their corresponding 712 aca-demic meanings.When the Chinese Academic Vocabulary and the vocabulary list of the Chinese Proficiency Grading Standards for International Chinese Language Education were compared,we put forward the suggestions of paying attention to the similarities and differences between academic and general meanings of academic words and emphasizing the importance of academic words in teaching.
