Research on the Influence of Intelligent Transformation on Export Scale of Enterprises:Evidence from a Quasi-natural Experiment based on the"Special Action of Intelligent Manufacturing Pilot Demonstration"
The advancement of intelligent transformation in enterprises plays a critical role in establishing a bigger trading power and fostering new dual-circulation development pattern.From a perspective of total factor productivity effect,financing effect,and corporate governance effect,this paper develops a theoretical framework to comprehensively investigate the impact mechanism of intelligent transformation on export scale at the enterprise level.Using data from A-share listed companies from 2010 to 2022,the study constructs a quasi-natural experiment based on the"Intelligent Manu-facturing Pilot Demonstration Special Action"to empirically assess the impact of intelligent transformation on export scale and its channels of influ-ence.The result show that,intelligent transformation significantly promotes enterprise export scale.Mechanism analysis reveals that enhancing en-terprise total factor productivity,alleviating financing constraints and improving managerial capabilities serve as critical pathways through which in-telligent transformation drives export scale growth.Heterogeneity analysis highlights that the impact of intelligent transformation on export scale va-ries based on factors such as capital intensity,location,ownership,and industry.Specifically,the positive effect is more pronounced for capital-in-tensive enterprises,those in the eastern region,non-state-owned enterprises,and enterprises in highly.competitive industries.Furthermore,enter-prises implementing intelligent transformation generate significant intra-industry spillover effects,effectively driving export scale among non-pilot en-terprises within their industries.This study extends the understanding of factors influencing enterprise export scale and provides policy recommenda-tions for the government to promote intelligent transformation in support of high-quality export development.
