Under China's dual-carbon targets, there is a long way to go for carbon reduction in buildings.Carbon emission calculation,as an explicit design element, has attracted widespread attention from architects. In this study, the research objects are"Qiju 2.0"(prefabricated wood structure)and"Qiju 3.0"(prefabricated steel structure)from the second(2018)and the third(2022)Solar Decathlon China(SDC)competition.By calculating the carbon emissions of the whole life-cycle of the two buildings, demonstrating the comparative carbon emission characteristics of the two buildings, and analysing the low-carbon strategies and practical effects of the two buildings, useful data and references are provided for carbon reduction in building design.
