This paper examines late-Ming scholar-official QI Biaojia's writing on his private garden Mountain Yu,and reveals a special narrative of the Master of Garden in the text. The master sets the"scene"(jing)as a specific temporal-spatial frame, thereby subjectively creating a distinction between"inside"and"outside"the scene,in which he can transit between the two on his own. Therefore, with a focus on the"scene",this paper presents a profound understanding of the"mastership"of the master, and further discusses the general trend of late-Ming gardens to be objectified and aestheticized.
