Impacts of Micro-Reconstructed Facades on the Emotional Health of Female and Planning Strategies:An Empirical Study Based on Neuroscience Experiment in Guangzhou
Urban design, from the perspective of enhancing people's mental health and exploring women's emotional perceptions within the city, represents an important starting point for advancing a people-oriented city.Based on the perspective of neuroarchitecture, this study utilized VR eye tracking and fNIRS in conjunction with subjective scales, and takes old residential areas in cities and the historic conservation district in Guangzhou as examples to explore the impact of micro-reconstructed facades on female brain activity and emotional health. The results indicated that elements such as doors, windows, exterior decorations, patterns, and texts easily capture women's attention.Facades with higher completeness and orderliness in old residential areas in cities enable women to experience more positivity, while the specific styles and elements of facades in historic conservation districts have a greater impact on women's emotions. Therefore, strategies are proposed to focus on improving the overall refurbishment of facades in old residential areas and preserving traditional characteristic elements,as well as regulating the amount of facade information in historic conservation districts. This aims to provide reference for healthy city construction from a female perspective.
