Since the reform and opening-up,the cities in the Pearl River Delta Economic Circle have experienced rapid development, with continuous improvement in the scale and quality of urban construction, leading to a significant enhancement of living environments for the local residents. However,in the late 1990s,the development of the urban agglomerations was constrained by land, population, and environmental factors, causing a shift from"incremental"development to"stock"improvement in urban construction. In 2015,the Pearl River Delta region was upgraded to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area,a world-class city cluster. As a frontier exploration area for urban renewal, cities in the region have generally promoted urban development through"stock"transformation, including changes in driving mechanisms, renewal subjects, and transformation models. This paper aims to focus on its evolution and transformative implications and to empirically demonstrate the process of transformation and its implications from diverse perspectives.
