From the macro perspective of high-level protection and high-quality development, this paper uses the CiteSpace software to make the knowledge spectrum analysis, which is to visualize hotspots and evolution trends of the research on the state-owned forest areas in China. The results show:1)The researchers who have been studying state-owned forest area are mainly from Northeast Forestry University, with a significant degree of concentration; The institutions which engage in the research are concentrated in Heilongjiang Province and Beijing, indicating the close relatedness to geographical location and attributes, and Northeast Forestry University,National Forestry and Grassland Administration and its affiliated research institutions, and Beijing Forestry University are the main research institutions devoted to the research;2)The issues such as"forest industry enterprise","nature forest protection program","reform","industrial structure","economic transformation",etc.,are the research hotspots, which show the characteristics of phased evolution during the observation period;and 3)The research on state-owned forest areas will focus on the fields of high-level ecological protection,high-quality economic development, modernization of forest industry enterprises under the new positioning, and construction of nature forest reserves. At the end, this paper summarizes the academic contributions of the research on state-owned forest areas at the theoretical and practical levels, discusses the problems and the gaps in the existing research, and suggests that more attention should be paid to the theoretical issues in depth and practical dilemmas in the research on state-owned forest areas and scholars should be encouraged to engage the long-term tracking of the issue and achieve the continuation of research instead of addicted to short-term superficial research.
