Resource Sharing Pathways and Co-construction & Co-management Mechanism in the Gateway Community of Great Smoky Mountains National Park at Gatlinburg in the USA
As the national park system in China continues to evolve,various national parks have actively worked out the models of gateway community building.The critical issues in the regard are how to utilize national park resources for the benefit of gateway communities and how to establish a robust coordination mechanism between national parks and gateway communities.This paper takes Gatlinburg,the gateway community of Great Smoky Mountains National Park,as the object to summarize its pathways to sharing diverse resource with the national park,the co-management mechanism developed based on basic systems and specialized mechanisms,and the co-construction mechanism characterized with multi-stakeholders participation.The enlightenment to the development of gateway communities of national parks in China is put forth from the four aspects of pathways to resource sharing,co-construction mechanism,co-management mechanism and development framework,with a view to providing references for the construction of gateway communities of China's national parks.
