Research Progress in Effects of Pruning on Plantation Ecosystem
Pruning is the main measure that is used in forest management to cultivate knot-free timber. In order to meet people's demand for high-quality wood, many scholars have carried out studies on the impact of pruning on plantation ecosystem, and achieved remarkable results.Based on the review of research on plantation pruning at home and abroad, this paper summarizes the research progress in the effects of pruning on plantation ecosystem from the aspects of plantation growth, understory vegetation development, soil fertility and wood properties, and points out the problems existing in the current research on plantation pruning. It is suggested that the theoretical research on pruning in plantations should be strengthened, the technical specifications and standards for pruning of different tree species should be formulated, the research on positioning the long-term effects of pruning on plantation ecosystems should be promoted, and plantation pruning robots suitable for mountain operation should be developed,so as to provide the scientific basis for plantation pruning and knot-free timber cultivation.
