Green Public Procurement Policies for Forest Products:Comparison and Enlightenment of International Experience
Since the 1980s,governments around the world have introduced green public procurement policies for forest products to promote the expansion of market demand for sustainable forest products,in order to address increasingly severe global challenges of continuous forest loss and insufficient supply of sustainable forest products, thereby promoting the sustainable management and protection of global forests. This paper reviews and analyzes the principles, standards, operational requirements and support means of green public procurement policies for forest products in United Kingdom, the European Union and its major member states,New Zealand and Japan. It argues that the green public procurement policy for forest products and its implementation in China need to be further improved, and suggests that the policy should be improved in terms of enhancing the strategic position of the policy, improving standards, establishing a one-stop information service window, and strengthening training.
