Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,General Secretary Xi Jinping has delivered a series of important expositions on the development of socialism and socialism with Chinese characteristics,which have provided us with a theoretical guide and fundamental principle for more systematic,in-depth understanding of the history of socialism,as well as for better adhering to and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics.Marxism,unparalleled in the history of human thought,has illuminated the path forward for the Chinese people and has transformed China in a profound manner;China in turn has greatly enriched and developed Marxism.The disintegration of the Soviet Union and drastic changes in Eastern Europe serve as an alert to future generations that the development of world socialism is not smooth sailing,and we must draw profound historical lessons from such events while persisting in and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics.Looking at the history of socialism,socialism with Chinese characteristics has made major historical contributions to world socialism through its distinct theoretical innovations,brilliant development history and great practical achievements.
