Abstract

Objective:To explore the status and the bidirectional relationship of sleep and mental health(anxiety, depression). Methods:The online questionnaire survey was taken including 1 078 subjects in college students.Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI),Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS),Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)were used to evaluate sleep quality, anxiety and de-pression,multiple Logistics aggression was used to analyze the bidirectional relationship between sleep quality and mental health. The main analysis methods were t test、2 test and Logistics aggression. Results:The detection rates of depression, anxiety and poor sleep among undergraduate college students were 39.86%,23.13%and 20.64%respectively,and those of vocational colleges were 23.84%,50.83%and 21.71%respectively.There is a statistically significant difference in the detection rate of depression among undergraduate and vocational college students(P<0.05).Both undergraduate and vocational colleges have higher PSQI scores and detection rates of poor sleep among students with depression than those without depression(P<0.05).The PSQI score and detection rate of poor sleep in students with anxiety were higher than those without anxiety(P<0.05).Logis-tic regression analysis showed that poor sleep was a risk factor for depression(OR=4.798,95%CI 2.448 to 9.402,OR=3.768,95%CI 1.963 to 7.232)and anxiety(OR =3.424,95%CI 2.324 to 5.046,OR =4.407,95%CI 3.006 to 6.459)among students from both undergraduate and vocational colleges;Depression(OR=5.092,95%CI 2.640 to 9.822,OR=3.614,95%CI 2.435 to 5.363)and anxiety(OR=4.692,95%CI 2.513 to 8.759,OR =4.397,95%CI 2.979 to 6.490)are risk factors for poor sleep. Conclusion:During the epidemic of novel coronavirus infection, the sleep quality of college students was general, and the detection rate of depression and anxiety was high. There is a bidirectional correlation between sleep, anxiety, and depres-sion.Universities should strengthen mental health education for students, pay more attention to students with poor sleep quality, and intervene in the sleep of students with depression and anxiety if necessary.
