Regulation of Electroacupuncture of Auricular Concha on Excitability of Cerebral Cortex in Patients with Sleep Disorder after Novel Coronavirus Infection
Objective:To investigate the regulatory effect of auricular electroacupuncture on cortical excitability in patients with sleep disorder after novel coronavirus infection. Methods:A total of 20 patients with insomnia and 20 healthy volunteers were in-cluded in the study from June 2022 to June 2023,admitted to the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department and Rehabilitation Clinic of the Eighth People's Hospital of Foshan City,Guangdong Province.Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)and Hyperar-ousal Scale(HAS)were used to evaluate the general condition of the subjects.Meanwhile, single transcranial magnetic stimulation was used to collect the cortical motor evoked potential related indicators before and after auricular electroacupuncture in the two groups to observe the regulation effect of auricular electroacupuncture on the latency and amplitude of cortical motor evoked poten-tial.Results:Before treatment, the latent period of cortical motor evoked potential was short and the amplitude was large in pa-tients.After treatment, the latent period of cortical motor evoked potential did not change significantly, but its amplitude decreased in patients. Conclusion:Auricular electroacupuncture can regulate cortical excitability by activating autonomic nervous system,so as to inhibit excessive cortical arousal in patients with sleep disorder after novel coronavirus infection, which may be one of the mechanisms of auricular electroacupuncture in the treatment of insomnia.
