Objective:To analyze the effect of nutritional support therapy on improving sleep quality in elderly dementia patients with nutritional risk. Methods:A total of 80 elderly dementia patients with nutritional risk admitted to the Department of Psychia-try of Fuqing Eighth Hospital from May 2022 to May 2023 were selected as the research subjects. The effect of nutritional support therapy on improving sleep quality of elderly dementia patients with nutritional risk was analyzed. The control group received rou-tine nursing intervention, while the observation group received nutritional support therapy intervention. After treatment, the nutri-tional status of patients was screened through the NRS 2002 score.A self-made sleep quality scale was used to compare the sleep status of two groups of patients before and after intervention, including midnight sleep time, midnight wake-up frequency, all night sleep time, and all night wake-up frequency. The nap time, sleep time, sleep efficiency, and sleep maintenance rate of patients were collected and compared. Results:After intervention, the incidence of nutritional risk in the observation group was significant-ly lower than that in the control group. The observation group had significantly longer sleep time at midnight and all night, and the number of awakenings at midnight and all night was significantly lower than that in the control group. The observation group had significantly higher nap time, sleep time, sleep efficiency, and sleep maintenance rate than the control group. The differences be-tween the two groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:The application of nutritional support therapy can ef-fectively improve the sleep and quality of life of elderly dementia patients with nutritional risk, ensure their nutritional needs,re-duce the risk of malnutrition, and significantly optimize and enhance the treatment effect. It is worth promoting and applying in clinical practice.
