Objective:To explore whether aromatherapy and acupressure can improve sleep quality in patients with colorectal cancer. Methods:One hundred colorectal cancer patients who underwent chemotherapy at Quanzhou Hospital of Traditional Chi-nese Medicine between March 2021 and January 2023 were chosen as research subjects for this investigation. They were split into two groups using the random number table method:an observation group and a control group, each with 50 cases.Patient care in the control group was standard. On the basis of the control group, the observation group was combined with acupressure and aroma-therapy.We examined the control group's and the observation group's changes in mood and quality of sleep prior to and following the intervention. Results:Up to the therapy, the two groups'sleep conditions were not significantly different(P>0.05).Following the intervention, the observation group's patients slept longer overall, had fewer waking periods, slept for shorter periods of time, and had a lower ratio of waking to recording time than the control group. In addition, compared with before intervention, the moni-toring indexes of polysomnosis in the observation group changed significantly after intervention, with statistical significance(P<0.05).Before intervention, there was no significant difference in sleep quality between the two groups(P>0.05).Afterwards the treatment, participants in the observation group experienced improved sleep quality, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Emotional states that were negative wasn't significantly different between the two groups prior to the intervention(P>0.05).After intervention, the SAS and SDS scores of the observation group were lower, indicating that the negative emotion relief effect of the observation group was better than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Compared with conventional nursing, aromatherapy combined with acupressure can effectively improve sleep quality, improve sleep status, reduce negative emotions, and have a positive effect on improving the sleep quality of patients with colorectal cancer chemotherapy.
