Objective:To observe the effect of touch intervention on the growth, development, and sleep quality of newborns. Methods:A total of 100 newborns born in Anxi County Hospital from January 2022 to January 2023 were selected as the research subjects. They were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group using a random number table method, with 50 cases in each group. The control group of newborns received routine nursing intervention. The observation group newborns were given touch nursing intervention in combination with the control group.Compare the growth and development of newborns, including three indicators:length, head circumference, and body mass, and record the sleep time of newborns at birth and 24 hours after 4 weeks of birth to record and compare the sleep status of two groups of children, and compare the feeding in-tolerance of the two groups of newborns. Results:After intervention, compared with birth, both the control group and the observa-tion group showed significant growth and development after 4 weeks of birth, and the observation group had better development in height, head circumference, and body weight after 4 weeks of birth compared to the control group. The differences between the two groups were statistically significant(P<0.05);After intervention, the sleep duration of both groups of newborns increased within one day,and the observation group had longer sleep duration 24 hours after 4 weeks of birth compared to the control group. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05);After intervention, the incidence of milk spilling,ab-dominal distention and gastric retention of newborns in the observation group during hospitalization was significantly lower than that in the control group, and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Com-pared with traditional routine nursing measures, the application of touch nursing to newborns can significantly promote their growth and development, improve their sleep quality, and reduce the occurrence of feeding intolerance. It has reference value and promo-tion significance for clinical nursing of special populations such as newborns.
