Objective:To analyze the advantages and effectiveness of the comprehensive intervention strategy of metformin and in-sulin glargine in correcting sleep disorders in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods:A total of 80 patients with type 2 diabetes and sleep disorders treated at the Endocrinology Department of Ji'nan First People's Hospital from January 2023 to January 2024 were selected as research subjects.Participants were randomly assigned to a control group(n=40),receiving only insulin glargine, and an observation group(n=40),treated with both metformin and insulin glargine. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)was used to compare changes in sleep quality before and after the intervention. The changes in glycemic control indica-tors,insulin dosage, insulin dosage at the time of glucose control, time to achieve glycemic control, and frequency of hypoglycemia were compared between the two groups,as well as the overall treatment efficacy.Results:Post-intervention,the observation group exhibited significantly lower PSQI scores compared to the control group. The fasting blood glucose, postprandial blood glucose, and glycated hemoglobin levels in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group.Additionally, the total insulin dosage, insulin dosage at the time of glycemic control, and time to achieve glycemic control were significantly lower in the observation group. The treatment efficacy in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group, with all differences being statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:The comprehensive treatment strategy of metformin combined with insulin glargine is effective in correcting sleep disorders in patients with type 2 diabetes and can help patients achieve optimal therapeutic outcomes. It is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
