Objective:To explore the impact of sleep hypoxia on the sleep condition of patients with chronic obstructive pulmona-ry disease(COPD)and its relationship with other related indicators. Methods:A total of 80 patients with moderate to very severe stable COPD,admitted to the Department of Respiratory Medicine at the Second Hospital of Fuqing City between August 2020 and August 2022,were selected as study subjects. They were divided into a hypoxia group(n=35)and a non-hypoxia group(n=45)based on the presence of sleep hypoxia.Blood gas analysis, sleep parameters, and heart rate were observed and compared between the two groups. Results:Significant differences were found between the two groups in pH,arterial oxygen pressure(PaO2),and ar-terial carbon dioxide pressure(PaCO2)(P<0.05).Differences in daytime oxygen saturation(SaO2),nocturnal mean oxygen satu-ration(MSaO2),lowest nocturnal oxygen saturation(Mini-SaO2),and the difference between day and night SaO2 were statistically significant(P<0.05).The two groups also showed significant differences in wake time and frequency, heart rate, and non-rapid eye movement sleep stages 1+2 and 3+4(all P<0.05).Conclusion:Sleep hypoxia has a significant negative impact on oxygen saturation, sleep structure, and heart rate in COPD patients.Clinically,it is important to promptly detect and intervene in sleep hy-poxia in COPD patients to improve their respiratory and sleep function.
