The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposed pursuing green development and promoting harmony between humanity and nature,and ensuring energy security.In 2023,the COP28 conference reiterated its existing climate goals and reached a new consensus to achieve scientific net zero emissions.The global energy market pattern has been reshaped with the status of oil and gas in energy safety is valued,the transition of oil and gas firms still focuses on core competitive advantages,but the investment of upstream recovery slowly.The number of global carbon capture and storage(CCS)projects increased explosively,and direct air capture(DAC)technology has attracted attention.Carbon capture,utilization and storage(CCUS)is the backup technology to achieve the"dual carbon"goals.In response to the global future development goals and the national conditions of China and analysis of the development trends of the world's oil and gas industry and the domestic oil and gas security situation,it proposes the development trends and energy transition of China's oil and gas industry and measures for responding to challenges in the process of energy transition,and provides reference for the transition decisions of oil and gas firms.China has a high energy self-sufficiency rate and the energy security situation is generally controllable.China's oil and gas industry has shown the"3D"development trend.Exploration depth is advancing towards 10 000 meters,the scale of oil and gas storage space is expanding to nanometers,and the old oil and gas fields are stating a new centennial construction journey.It shall be focus on release the potential of increasing of reserves and production in"deep oil and gas reservoirs and deep sea oil and gas reservoirs,Unconventional and old oil and gas fields",deepen energy cooperation in key areas of the"the Belt and Road",expand oil and gas reserve capabilities,improve the layout of pipeline network,establish a systematic and intelligent risk management and decision-making support system,and develop the CCUS industrial chain vigorously.
