Theoretical Analysis of Thermodynamic Properties of Lu-Mg and Lu-Al Alloys
The mixing enthalpy, excess entropy, excess Gibbs free energy and the activity among all components of Lu-Mg and Lu-Al binary alloy melts were calculated using the Miedema model.According to the Butler's equation, the surface tensions of Lu-Mg and Lu-Al alloy melts and the content of all elements in the surface phase were calculated. The results indicate that the mixing enthalpy, excess entropy and excess Gibbs free energy of Lu-Mg and Lu-Al alloy melts are all negative. The activity of each component shows negative deviations compared to the ideal solution, indicating that Lu has stronger interaction with Mg and Al.The surface tensions of Lu-Mg and Lu-Al alloy melts decrease with the increase of Mg and Al content. Both Mg and Al elements are enriched towards the melt surface.
