Geological characteristics and genesis of the Shiao gold deposit in Hunan province
Shiao Gold Mine is located in the central part of the Mufu Mountain Wangxiang Uplift in northeastern Hunan,on the outer contact zone of the Wangxiang and Jinjing rock bodies in the northeast. It is an important gold mineralization area in southern China.Through analysis and research on the ore-forming strata, ore bearing structures, vein characteristics, ore characteristics, and deep mineralization enrichment rules in the mining area,it is believed that the gold veins in the mining area occur in the Pingyuan Formation of the Lengjiaxi Group in the Neoproterozoic. The NS and SEE-NWW trending fault structures in the mining area are the ore bearing structures. The gold mineralization in the mining area is mainly characterized by altered and fractured slate types and gold bearing quartz vein types. The main alterations related to gold mineralization include pyrite mineralization, silicification, and arsenopyritization. The genetic type of the deposit is a medium(low)temperature hydrothermal gold deposit.Based on the latest exploration results and ore-forming laws,it is predicted that there is significant potential for mineral exploration in the western Dayuanling area and deep edges of the mining area.
