Hydrometallurgical process optimization of the Luishia Cu-Co project,DRC
The Luishia Cu-Co project is located approximately 70km northwest of Lubumbashi City,Haunt Katanga Province,DRC.The Luishia Cu-Co deposit is dominated by sulfide ores with some oxidized ores near the surface. The design adopts the hydrometallurgical process of mixed flotation of both oxidized and sulfide ore, after concentrate fluidized bed roasting, the calcine sent into L-SX-EW to produce cathode copper, and the raffinate neutralization to precipitating cobalt hydroxide. The practice shows that the use of mixed flotation affects the comprehensive recovery of copper and cobalt, and the capacity of the plant cannot be fully used. After the improvements, the oxidized ores leached directly, combined with roasting sulfide concentrate, enters into the hydrometallurgical program. The comprehensive recovery rate of copper was greatly improved, and the copper production capacity increased from 25,000 tpa to 35,000 tpa.
