This article explores the important role and challenges of Geographic Information System(GIS)engineering in mine safety monitoring and emergency response.By analyzing the application of GIS technology in mine safety monitoring,accident prevention,and emergency response,it elaborates on its importance in improving mine safety production level and reducing accident risks.It also deeply analyzes the technical challenges faced by GIS engineering in practice,including data quality,accuracy,real-time performance,reliability,and efficiency in emergency response.Based on this,suggestions and prospects for further improving the role of GIS engineering in mine safety monitoring and emergency response are proposed.
