Study on the Structure of Ethyl Cellulose from Different Manufacturers by Mid-Infrared Spectroscopy
Mid-infrared(MIR)spectroscopy has important value for the development of ethyl cellulose and downstream products. The structure of ethyl cellulose(EC)from different manufacturers has been compared by MIR spectroscopy, and it finds that the ethyl cellulose from different sources is of difference in the O—H group expansion and contraction vibration mode(νO—H-EC),the CH3 group asymmetric expansion and contraction vibration mode(νasCH3-EC),the CH3 group symmetrical expansion and contraction vibration mode(νsCH3-EC),the C—H group telescopic vibration mode(νCH-EC),CH3 group symmetrical bending vibration mode(δsCH3-EC),C—O group telescopic vibration mode(νC—O-EC)and OC2H3 group vibration mode(νOC2H3-EC).Semi-quantitative study shows that carbonyl compounds and amide compounds exist in ethyl cellulose from different sources, but there are also certain differences in their absorption patterns and intensities.
