The structure of natural pink sapphire has been studied in situ using diffuse reflectance mid infrared spectroscopy.The experiment finds that the main infrared absorption modes of pink sapphire include:in the Al2O3 structure,the infrared absorption mode corresponding to the stationary Al3+ions sublattice vibration for O2-ions(νAl2O3-O-Al),in the Cr2O3 structure,the infrared absorption mode corresponding to the stationary Cr3+ions sublattice vibration for O2-ions(νC2O3-o-Cr)and in the Al2O3 structure,the infrared absorption modes corresponding to relative vibrations between Al3+ions(νAl2O3-Al-Al)The study of the structure of pink sapphire using diffuse reflectance mid infrared spectroscopy has certain application research value.
