Development Trajectories of Nicotine Addiction Tendencies of College Students Majoring in Physical Education
From September 2020 to September 2023,2 823 students randomly selected from 10 sports colleges and universities in Nanchang City,Jiangxi Province are tracked using Chinese version of the Nicotine Dependence Detection Scale upon enrollment,completing a total of 4 surveys.The results show that the tendency of nicotine addiction of college students majoring in physical education changed across time,showing the trend of increasing first and then decreasing,with the strongest tendency of nicotine addiction in sophomore year,followed by freshman year,junior year,and the weakest tendency in senior year.Nicotine addiction tendency can be divided into three categories:rapid increase,slow increase and rapid decrease.There are gender differences in the trajectory of nicotine addiction.Compared with the slow-raising group,the fast-raising group has a higher proportion of males,and the fast-declining group has a higher proportion of females.The study shows that there are group differences and gender differences in the nicotine addiction tendency of college students majoring in physical education.It is necessary to develop targeted measure for intervention.
