This paper is based on the engineering problems of deformation intrusion and structural cracking of the initial support of the exit section of the Xiangcao Tunnel. The observation points of the primary support arch and side wall are monitored and measured, and the maximum cumulative deformation is paid attention to.According to the initial support deformation and advanced geological prediction, the cause of the initial support deformation intrusion is analyzed and the corresponding treatment plan is proposed. The effect of the plan is verified and evaluated through numerical simulation and field tests. The results show that due to the overall fragmentation of the rock mass in this section, which exhibits poor stability in a layered structure, the lack of horizontal restraint at the arch foot leads to significant peripheral convergence deformation, intruding into the space of the secondary lining.Changing the lining type from Vb to reinforced Vc and enhancing initial support parameters effectively control the peripheral convergence deformation of the tunnel.
