Effects of Fertilization Time on Shooting and Young Bamboo Growth in Moso Bamboo Forest
To investigate the effects of fertilization time on the shooting and young bamboo growth in moso bamboo forest, fertilization tests were conducted at different times from 2019 to 2022.Three treatments were set to compare and analyze the effect of the time to fertilize on shooting quantity, quantity of bamboo culms and growth of new bamboo,i.e.,fertilizer application in May and then in the month prior to winter bamboo shoot digging(Treatment A),fertilizer application in May and then when digging winter bamboo shoots(Treatment B),fertilizer application in May and then in the month after the digging of winter bamboo shoots(Treatment C),and no fertilization(CK).The study reveals that Treatment B has the best effect in improving shooting and new bamboo growth in the moso bamboo forest.Under Treatment B,the spring bamboo shoot production, the average quantity of bamboo, and the average diameter at breast height and the average height of new bamboo culms are 939 shoots/ha,883 culms/ha,10.9 cm and 12.3 m,28.10%,32.38%,14.74%and 14.95%higher than the CK,respectively. The research results would provide technical references for the selection of the time to fertilize in shoot-timber producing forest.
