Objective To understand the research status,frontiers and trends of traditional Chinese medicine treatment of functional constipation(FC)in recent 20 years.Methods China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI)and Wanfang Data were searched from January 1,2000 to December 31,2021 to obtain the articles on FC treatment.VOS-viewerl.6.18 was used to conduct author cooperation network and keyword co-occurrence analysis,and CiteSpace5.8.R3 for keyword clustering,timeline graph and emergent analysis to understand the research hotspots and trends in this field.Results A total of 2 986 articles were retrieved,and 1 888 were finally included after manually screening and exclusion of 1 098 articles.A total of 3 569 authors and 2 037 keywords were obtained.With the occurrence threshold of authors and keywords set as 5,there were 167 results higher than the value.The keywords were clustered by CiteSpace.Each cluster was required to have at least 10 nodes,thus resulting in 9 clusters.Conclusion In recent 20 years,the annual publica-tions on TCM treatment of FC have generally shown an upward fluctuating decline trend.From 2000 to 2010,the FC litera-ture presented a rapid growth.Intestinal flora,serum substance p(SP),vasoactive intestinal peptide(VIP),nitric oxid(NO),acupuncture and massage,and children FC are the research hotspots in the last five years.
