Clinical Efficacy of Alternating Warm Needle Acupuncture Combined with Nerve Growth Factor from Rats in the Treatment of Patients with Acute Idiopathic Facial Paralysis and Its Impact on Facial Nerve Function
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of alternating warm needle acupuncture combined with rat nerve growth factor in the treatment of patients with acute idiopathic facial paralysis and its effect on facial nerve function. Methods A total of 86 patients with acute idiopathic facial paralysis admitted to The First Affiliated Hospital of Hunan Traditional Chinese Medical College from December 2018 to December 2022 were included in the study, and were divided into observation group(43 cases)and control group(43 cases)by random number table method. The observation group was treated with alternating warm needle acupuncture combined with rat nerve growth factor, and the control group was treated with rat nerve growth factor alone. After 1 month of treatment, the clinical efficacy, adverse reactions, traditional Chinese medicine symptom scores before and after treatment, facial nerve function scores, and facial nerve electromyography indica-tors(blink reflex latency, compound muscle action potential amplitude)were observed and compared between the two groups.Additionally, levels of neurotrophic factors[glial cell-derived neurotrophic factor(GDNF),nerve growth factor(NGF)]and superoxide dismutase(SOD)were measured. Results After treatment, the total effective rate of the observa-tion group was 93.02%(40/43),significantly higher than the control group's 76.74%(33/43),with a statistically sig-nificant difference(P<0.05).After treatment,TCM symptom scores in both groups were lower than before treatment, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05),and TCM symptom scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, facial nerve function scores in both groups were higher than before treatment(P<0.05),and RI latency and CMAP amplitude levels were lower than before treatment(P<0.05);facial nerve func-tion scores in observation group were higher than control group(P<0.05),and RI latency and CMAP amplitude levels were lower than control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the levels of GDNF,NGF and SOD in the two groups were high-er than before treatment(P<0.05),and the levels of GDNF,NGF and SOD in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).During the treatment period, there was no statistically significant difference in the in-cidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Alternating warm needle acupuncture com-bined with rat nerve growth factor has a good effect in the treatment of acute idiopathic facial paralysis during the acute phase, which can significantly improve the symptoms and enahnce facial nerve function of patients, with a high level of safe-ty,making it suitable for clinical application.
