Observation of Therapeutic effect of Hainan Agarwood Moxibustion on Patients with Mild Depressive Insomnia
Objective To explore the effect of Hainan agarwood moxibustion on patients with mild depressive in-somnia.Methods A total of 85 patients with mild depressive insomnia treated in Rehabilitation Department of Hainan Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from November 2020 to January 2022 were selected and randomly divided into three groups:Hainan agarwood moxibustion group(30 cases),Artemisia moxibustion group(30 cases)and Placebo moxibustion group(25 cases)using a random number table. The Hainan agarwood moxibustion group was treated with acupuncture, ear point embedding needle combined with Hainan agarwood moxibustion;the moxibustion group was treated with acupuncture, ear point embedding needle combined with Artemisia moxibustion;the Placebo moxibustion group was treated with acu-puncture,ear point embedding needle combined with Placebo moxibustion.Clinical efficacy,Hamilton depression(HAMD)score,Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI)score, and self-rating depression scale(SDS)score were observed and com-pared between the two groups at 2,4,8 weeks after treatment and during the follow-up period.Result The total effective rate after treatment was 93.33%(28/30)in the Agarwood moxibustion group and 73.33%(22/30)in the Artemisia moxibustion group, both significantly higher than the 44.00%(11/25)in the Placebo moxibustion group, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).The total effective rate of the Agarwood moxibustion group was higher than that of the Artemisia moxibustion group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).At 2,4,and 8 weeks after treat-ment and during the follow-up period, the HAMD scores in the three groups were significantly lower than those before treatment(P<0.05).The HAMD scores in the Agarwood Moxibustion group and the Moxibustion with Artemisia group were lower than those in the Placebo Moxibustion group(P<0.05).Additionally,at 8 weeks after treatment and during the follow-up period, the HAMD scores in the Agarwood Moxibustion group were lower than those in the Moxibustion with Artemisia group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Similarly,at 2,4,8 weeks after treatment and during the follow-up period, the PSQI scores in all three groups were significantly lower than those before treatment(P<0.05).The PSQI scores in the Agarwood Moxibustion group and the Moxibustion with Artemisia group were lower than those in the Placebo Moxibustion group(P<0.05).Moreover,the PSQI scores in the Agarwood Moxibustion group were lower than those in the Moxibustion with Artemisia group(P<0.05).The SDS scores in all three groups at 2,4,8 weeks after treat-ment and during the follow-up period were significantly lower than those before treatment(P<0.05).The SDS scores in the Agarwood Moxibustion group and the Moxibustion with Artemisia group were lower than those in the Placebo Moxibus-tion group(P<0.05).Additionally,at 4,8 weeks after treatment and during the follow-up period, the SDS scores in the Agarwood Moxibustion group were lower than those in the Moxibustion with Artemisia group(P<0.05).Conclusion Agarwood moxibustion and Artemisia moxibustion can improve the depressive symptoms and sleep of patients with mild de-pressive insomnia, and agarwood moxibustion is superior to moxibustion in improving depressive symptoms and sleep com-pared to Artemisia Moxibustion.
