Exploring the Medication Patterns for Treating Proteinuria in Chronic Kidney Dis-ease by Professor Li Peixu,a Renowned Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner,Using an Improved Matrix and Weight Improved MW-Apriori Algorithm
Objective Using an improved Apriori algorithm,this study analyzed the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)prescription compatibility and patterns employed by renowned traditional Chinese medicine practitioner Professor Li Peixu in the treatment of proteinuria associated with chronic kidney disease.The aim is to provide guidance for clinical treatment.Methods The clinical data of patients treated by Professor Li Peixu for proteinuria associated with chronic kid-ney disease from January 2018 to January 2021 were collected to establish a database.Utilizing an improved MW-Apriori algorithm based on matrix and weighted adjustments,statistical analysis was conducted to explore medication patterns and characteristics of drug combinations,leading to the identification of core syndrome patterns and core prescriptions.Results A total of 1239 prescriptions from 391 cases were collected,involving 214 different medicinal herbs.,among which,135 herbs were used more than 10 times,with a cumulative usage frequency of 17,467 times.The 21 categories of herbs were dominated by the top five categories:heat-clearing herbs,tonifying herbs,diuretic herbs,exterior-releasing herbs,and blood-activating herbs.In terms of taste and meridian tropism,cold,neutral,and sweet-tasting herbs were most frequently used.Based on drug combination association rules,forsythia and honeysuckle combination had the highest frequency.Licorice was the most frequently used single herb and had the strongest association.Other herbs with strong as-sociations included honeysuckle,weeping forsythia capsule,amur cork-tree,unprocessed rehmannia root,milkvetch root,Chinese thorowax root,oriental waterplantain rhizome,Chinese angelica,debark peony root,and dandelion.Nine common patterns and 50 frequently used herbs were identified,from which 4 core syndrome patterns,4 core prescriptions,and 24 core herbs were derived.Conclusion Through data analysis of Professor Li Peixu's treatment of chronic kidney disease,it is evident that there are multiple primary diseases causing proteinuria in kidney diseases.The pathogenesis is characterized by damp-heat obstructing the kidney and leakage of essence.The basic pattern of the disease involves weak root and solid manifestation,mixed deficiency and excess,prolonged disease course,and accumulation of dampness and heat(toxin).Treatment should focus on dispelling pathogenic factors,promoting circulation,and nourishing qi and yin.Herb selection emphasizes cold,neutral,and sweet-tasting herbs.The present study has accurately and objectively derived core syndrome patterns and core prescriptions,which reflect Professor Li's academic thoughts and have significant guiding implications for clinical practice.
