Analysis of Pharmaceutical Rules of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the Treatment of Pneumonia Based on Data Mining
Objective To explore the rules and characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)in the treat-ment of pneumonia. Methods Prescriptions of TCM for pneumonia were collected and selected from the Chinese Pharma-copoeia,Chinese Clinical Pharmacopoeia:Traditional Chinese Medicine Prescriptions,National Standard of Traditional Chi-nese Medicine, and New Compilation of National Chinese Patent Medicines.Cluster analysis was conducted on the prescrip-tion formulae to identify patterns in the use of medicines, frequency of use, properties and tastes, meridian affiliations, and therapeutic effects. Results A total of 118 TCM prescriptions were included, involving 16 different TCM syndromes, with the most common syndrome being phlegm-heat obstructing lung. There were 220 kinds of Chinese medicine involved, which were mainly divided into categories such as clearing heat, resolving phlegm and relieving cough, relieving asthma and tonifying deficiency.Regarding the nature of the herbs, cold property was the most common, followed by warm and neutral properties. The tastes of medicine were primarily bitter and acrid, mainly belonging to the lung meridian, followed by the stomach, spleen and liver meridians. The association rule analysis unveiled 25 core herbal combinations. Finally, these pre-scriptions were classified into 8 different categories by systematic clustering analysis. Conclusion The core TCM syn-drome of pneumonia is phlegm-heat obstructing lung, and its pathogenesis involves phlegm, stasis, heat, and toxins, with the pathological basis being the stagnation of lung qi.Therefore,in treatment,it is emphasized to comprehensively apply the medicine effects of ventilating lung qi,dispelling phlegm and stasis, clearing heat and toxins, and nourishing lung yin.
