Professor Wang Shuchen's Experience in Dialectical Treatment of Pulmonary Impo-tence
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis(IPF)has become an international problem,with patients often experien-cing rapid disease progression,poor quality of life,and short survival periods.Treatment with Western medicine alone,such as corticosteroids,immunosuppressants,or cytokine inhibitors,has proven difficult to delay or reverse the progression of pul-monary fibrosis,and the limitations of various drug reactions restrict their application.Through the combination of tradition-al Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome differentiation and modern pharmacology,Professor Wang Shu-chen has developed his unique insights into the TCM name,etiology,pathogenesis,and treatment principles of IPF.He suggests that for severe cases,naming it as"consumptive lung disease"may be more appropriate.He proposes viewpoints such as"treating con-sumptive lung disease as stroke","dispelling wind evil in the treatment of consumptive lung disease","considering the spleen and stomach during the treatment of consumptive lung disease",and"treating the lung and kidney simultaneously".These perspectives have been applied in clinical practice with significant efficacy,providing valuable experience in impro-ving the quality of life for patients.
