Effectiveness of Jianyang Yikan Prescription Combined with Levocarnitine Oral Liq-uid for Obese Oligoasthenospermia Patients and the Impact on Sperm Quality and Sex Hormones
Objective To explore the effectiveness of Jianyang Yikan Prescription combined with Levocarnitine o-ral liquid in the treatment of obese oligoasthenospermia patients and the impact on sperm quality and sex hormones[follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH),luteinizing hormone(LH),estradiol(E2),and testosterone(T)].Methods Ninety obese oligoasthenospermia patients admitted to the Reproductive Center and Department of Urology of Yixing People's Hospital,the Department of Andrology of Zhangjiagang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine,and the Andrology Outpatient Clin-ic of Shaanxi Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine from January 2020 to October 2022 were selected.They were divided into a control group and a study group by random number table,with 45 in each group.The control group received Levocar-nitine oral liquid,while the study group was treated with Jianyang Yikan Prescription on the basis of the control group.The treatment lasted for 3 months.Clinical efficacy,adverse reactions,traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome scores,sperm quality,and sex hormones in the two groups were observed and compared before and after treatment.Results Clini-cal efficacy:The total effective rate in the study group(95.56％,43/45)was higher than that in the control group(82.22％,37/45)(P＜0.05).TCM syndrome scores:Scores for primary and secondary symptoms decreased in both groups after treatment(P＜0.05),and the study group showed lower scores than the control group(P＜0.05).Sperm qual-ity:Sperm concentration,semen volume,percentage of progressive motility,and total sperm count increased in both groups after treatment(P＜0.05),and these parameters were better in the study group compared with the control group(P＜0.05).Sex hormones:FSH,LH,and T were elevated,while E2 decreased in both groups after treatment(P＜0.05),and the study group had more significant improvements than the control group(P＜0.05).Safety:The incidence of adverse re-actions was not significantly different between the study group(4.44％,2/45)and the control group(2.22％,1/45)(P＞0.05).Conclusion Jianyang Yikan Prescription combined with Levocarnitine oral liquid could alleviate clinical symp-toms,regulate sex hormones,and improve sperm quality in the treatment of obese oligoasthenospermia patients,thus enhan-cing the overall effectiveness of disease intervention,with high safety.
