Research on the Translation of Traditional Chinese Medicine Classics from the Per-spective of Translation Variation Theory-A Case Study of Maoshing Ni's Version of Huangdi Neijing Suwen
This paper,drawing from the perspective of translation variation theory,analyzed the motivations,mani-festations,and effects of the variation translation in Maoshing Nis version of Huangdi Neijing Suwen.Driven by the reading needs of students and laypeople,Ni utilized techniques such as addition,omission,editing,and paraphrasing to make the book accessible and to promote the philosophy of balance and harmony central to Chinese culture,thereby providing inspi-ration for the development of Western civilization.His translation has been lauded by readers for being rich in information,highly readable,and excellent overall.The translation variation theory serves as valuable guidelines for the translation of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)classics.TCM translators are encouraged to enhance their knowledge and employ varia-tion strategies judiciously in their work to facilitate the comprehension among international readers and to amplify the global impact of TCM culture.
